Who We Are

Blood in the Alley productions was set up in 2002.

The company’s focus is the staging of new and original theatre, as well as exciting and vibrant adaptations of repertoire theatre. The breadth and ambition of the work that has been produced by Blood in the Alley has been sustained by a realist style rooted in an Irish sense of priority and observational sensibility.

Creating new and exciting theatre for a new and ever-changing theatre audience is the driving force that sustains the company and has afforded the company the opportunity to produce challenging and audacious work.

Geoff Gould

Artistic Director

Geoff Gould is a L.A.M.D.A graduate with more than 20 years’ directorial experience. Geoff is originally from North Cork and is the founder and Artistic Director of Blood in The Alley Theatre Company and The Fit-up Theatre Festival.

Directorial credits include:
For Blood in the Alley: The Lonesome West by Martin Mc Donagh which toured as part of the 2015 Fit-up Theatre Festival and then went into The Everyman, Cork and The Civic, Tallaght. Under Milk Wood by Dylan Thomas as part of the 2014 Fit-up Theatre Festival. Woman and Scarecrow by Marina Carr, which toured nationally and to Centre Culturel in Paris. 2012, Jumping The Sharks by Micheál Lovett, 2010 (The Briery Gap, Macroom and Smock Alley, Dublin), Smallone by John Murphy (Centre Culturel in Paris, West Cork Fit-up Theatre Festival 2009, Andrews Lane and Munster Tour), When I was God by Conal Creedon (West Cork Fit-up Theatre Festival 2009) This Ebony Bird by Micheál Lovett (Half Moon Theatre, West Cork Fit-up, 2013) Tricky by Micheál Lovett (The Courtyard Theatre, London) and Howie The Rookie ( Brixton Mass, London) Catalpa by Donal O’Kelly (London for the McGowan Theatre, Canadian Tour 2008, West Cork Fit-up Theatre Festival 2010 and 2011 and The Institute for Ireland in Europe, Leuven, Belgium).

Between 1996 and 2001 Geoff was the artistic director of the Everyman Palace Theatre Cork and while there he directed The Playboy of the Western World by J.M. Synge, The Deadman’s Beard by Micheál Lovett, both of which toured nationally. Dr Faustus by Christopher Marlowe (Everyman & S.F.X.), Rashomon, Home is the Hero by Walter Macken, When I was God by Conal Creedon (Bewley’s and The Madder Market Theatre, Norwich) and Religious Knowledge.

Geoff both taught and directed while at L.A.M.D.A productions, directing Tis Pity She’s a Whore and King John.

Additional directorial credits include Making History by Brian Friel (Samuel Beckett, An Grianán Ulster tour and Irish and European Tour) and Brian Friel’s birthday celebration in Paris and Leuven, for Ouroboros, Romeo and Juliet (Cork, Dublin and Galway) and Second City Trilogy by Conal Creedon for the Cork Opera House and Tic by Elizabeth Moynihan for Tall Tales at Bewley’s, a programme of rehearsed readings of six Brian Friel plays for the Magill Summer school celebration and in 2010 Geoff directed a two week workshop on Brian Friel in KLPAC, Malaysia.
